New Degree Tracks Available to Ministry Students

is rolling out two new degree tracks for ministry students this fall: Spirituality and Formation and Intercultural Studies. These tracks will be offered within the MA in Ministry and Leadership degree, but are also available to Master of Divinity and MA (Biblical and Theological Studies) degree students who desire specialized studies in one of these areas.

“We are thrilled to offer these new opportunities for specialization to any students who wish to tailor their degree to their ministry context in these areas,” said Andrew Pack, EdD, Director of the MA in Ministry and Leadership.

This Spirituality and Formation Track is a 52-credit track that focuses on gospel-centered maturation and the practice of Christian spirituality. Track courses will include Biblical Theology of Spiritual Reality (2 credits), Spiritual Theology and Practice (2 credits), Historical Spirituality and Practice (2 credits), and a 2-credit elective.

The Intercultural Studies Track is a 52-credit track that examines issues relevant to global leadership from the perspective of interpersonal relationships across cultures. Track courses include Intercultural Communication (2 credits), Intercultural Leadership (2 credits), Intercultural Teaching and Learning (2 credits), and Intercultural Ministry (2 credits). This track is a great option for those students hoping to continue on to Western’s PhD in Intercultural Education or Doctor of Intercultural Studies.

Courses in both of these tracks will be offered online, providing access to Global students around the world.
